Thousands join the procession of "El Sentilde;or De Los Milagros" or Lord of Miracles that takes place every October in Lima, Peru. Followers dress in purple and the month of October is known as the purple month since some wear that color throughout the month. This celebration dates back hundreds of years and celebrates the miracles performed by a picture of Christ painted on a old church wall that survived earthquakes and persecutions to become a treasured part of Peruvian culture.
