As if depicting a land of fantasy, multicolor flowers splash on top of scenes involving intricately-carved birds, or sometimes even children playing. The story of how this gourd design originated takes us back in time to the Andes of Peru when an embroidery artist married a master gourd carver. Soon, she began incorporating her passion for vivid color into what had mostly been a monochromatic gourd carving tradition. She perfected what is now known as the "Primavera" technique, which is translated from Spanish as "Spring." This box displays a combination of techniques as the background is naturally colored with the use of fire while flowers are color dyed. Sizes and details shown will vary as nature and the artist intended. The inside of this gourd box has been finished with a protective coating. Also in small, large,
