Why Fair Trade Matters...
At Lucuma Designs we believe in a world where everyone has the opportunity to prosper and live with dignity. Fair trade means to us caring about people and the planet before profits as we hope to be an example of a more sustainable way of doing business.
With a desire to change the world, and together with many other Fair Traders we are helping bring positive change and hope for a better tomorrow to millions of artisans and farmers in Latin America, Africa, Asia and around the world.
Since 1998, Lucuma Designs has been supporting the work of over 250 artists many of them women working from 15 small family workshops and cooperatives in Peru.
Building business relationships based on mutual respect and trust is at the core of what we do as we collaborate with our Peruvian artist partners hand in hand creating opportunities for the long run.
“By developing exciting contemporary crafts that combine their creative talents and tradition with our fresh ideas, and local materials, we help our artists go beyond the ordinary while helping them improve their standard of living.”
Alessandra Bravo, co-founder, president & designer.
As more consumers want to know where the products we buy come from and who makes them, ask fair traders to be your direct connections to the source.
Thanks to caring world citizens like you, the far-reaching Fair Trade movement is growing rapidly! As consumers and businesses in developed countries, we all can make a difference and help reduce the inequality in the world just by shifting part of our spending into socially responsible and fairly traded products.
