mask artist Luis Miguel

“In 2007, I began creating masks and from then on, I have made sure to mix the emotions I wish to convey with the paints I use. I want my masks to make the Boruca culture known--after all, our culture is very unique. I want my masks to make people feel something.”

Now, Luis is working towards completing his university degree when he’s not creating his masks. He has a great passion for the Boruca masks and tradition, and he hopes to further improve his technique and painting skills.
